Frequently asked questions

How do I order?

Pick your area, browse this week's menus, add meals to your basket and check out. You'll need an account to place an order so the cook can reach you.

Pickup or delivery?

Each cook chooses: pickup only, delivery only, or both. Where both are offered you pick at checkout. Delivery is done by the cook, not by a courier company.

When is my food ready?

Every dish shows its cooking day, cut-off time and pickup window. Order before the cut-off to be included in that day's cook.

How do I pay?

You pay the cook for the food. HappyBelly charges cooks a small monthly commission on their sales; there is no fee for buyers.

Can I cancel?

You can cancel free of charge before the cook accepts your order or before the dish's cut-off time, whichever comes first. After that the food may already be bought and cooked — message the cook.

What about allergies?

Dishes list their allergens, but food is prepared in home kitchens where cross-contamination is possible. If you have a serious allergy, message the cook before ordering.

How do I become a cook?

Fill in the Sell Your Food form. We review every kitchen before it goes live and let you know once you're approved.

Do I need a licence to cook?

That depends on where you live. Cooks are responsible for holding any food handling permits, cottage-food registration or licences their local rules require.

Something went wrong with my order.

Message the cook first — most things are sorted quickly. If it isn't resolved, contact us and we'll step in.
